Nick Berens—President and CEO
With more than 25 years of experience in the software industry, Nick brings a deep strategic knowledge to the challenges and potential of this market segment. Previously, Nick was CEO of Codefast Inc., an innovative software tools company, VP of corporate development for IBM, SVP of corporate and business development at Rational Software, SVP of field sales at Catapulse Software, VP sales and marketing at InfoSpinner, and has held various management-level sales roles for Ingress Software and AT&T.
Rick McCumber—Vice President, Product Management
Rick has been a professional software engineer in various capacities since 1983. Rick has filled various roles on IT projects including project manager, requirements analyst, architect, developer, and quality engineer. In 2006, Rick joined Dr. Craig Webb's team at the Van Andel Institute and led the development and product management efforts for the next generation XB-Bio-Integration Suite application (XB-BIS). Previously, Rick was CTO of RDA, a software technical representative at Rational Software, and a software engineer at IBM.
Brian Berns—Vice President, Engineering
Brian is a senior software development professional with more than 20 years of commercial software development experience. He has been a technical lead, project manager, and requirements analyst for 15 years. He has extensive experience with object-oriented analysis, design, and programming on a variety of platforms, including Microsoft's .NET Framework. Prior to joining TMS, Brian was a consultant at RDA and an engineer at Intersolv.
Frank DuPont—Vice President, Field Services
Frank has spent more than 20 years in the software industry selling and helping customers adopt software technologies. Frank has a great deal of experience with the challenges and best practices for customer enablement, technology adoption, and process improvement. Previously, Frank was a service delivery manager at ATSC, a practice manager at Number Six, a technical sales manager at IBM, district manager at Rational Software, and a software engineer at IBM.
Jeremy Miller, Ph.D.—Director of Scientific Engineering
Jeremy brings a wealth of experience in the bioinformatics/biostatistics, with more than 10 years of experience in the field. He began his career developing custom analysis solutions for protein microarrays as a postdoctoral researcher at the Van Andel Research Institute. In 2002, in collaboration with Dr. Craig Webb, he developed the original code base for XB-BIS. Over the 10 years, he has had the opportunity to work in highly varied areas of analysis including gene expression microarrays and other high throughput molecular data collection techniques, clinical trial data analysis, drug repositioning, retrospective clinical data analysis, and systems biology analysis, among many others. He received an M.S. in biostatistics from Grand Valley State University and his Ph.D. in physical/computational chemistry from the University of Michigan, where he did his research in quantum simulations in NMR.
