Current Opportunities
We are looking for talented computer science professionals to join our software development team in Bethesda, MD. We are a small, intense team, so flexibility, good interpersonal/communication skills (English), and a desire to learn are critical for all positions.
Sr. ETL DeveloperThe individual will provide technical leadership for data integration for products and projects involving the clients healthcare data sources and the BIS tools repository. This work includes consolidating data from clinical applications, research databases and files, and external sources. The Sr. ETL Developer will work directly with the client SME's and a client engagement manager from TransMed to determine necessary steps required for client success of the project. This will include some project management tasks as well as focusing on extraction of data from source systems, staging data, integration of disparate sources into the BIS repository as needed to support end user usage solutions.
Skills/Experience
- 8+ years of database development/analyst and project lead experience
- 3+ years of ETL development experience, preferably within IT or Healthcare. Experience within data warehousing is also preferred
- Hands on experience with reporting and SQL
- Hands on experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle
- Experience with commercial or open-source ETL Tools, such as Pentaho, or Informatica
- Understanding of data integration problems, including validating and cleaning data
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- Must have excellent analytical and communication skills
- Must possess strong DBA and data modeling skills
- Must take initiative and be a self-starter, be flexible, detail-oriented, a team-player, and work well independently, good problem-solver, and must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be willing to travel to customer sites. Travel will be approximately 1-2 days 2-4 times a month. (Up to 50%)
GUI architect/.NET software developer (senior developer)
Full-time position
Experienced GUI architect who can design and implement the user experience for our next-generation bioinformatics product.
Requirements—a qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- 9 years professional UI software development experience using object-oriented analysis, design, and programming (C#, Java, or C++)
- 5 years experience using and developing GUI component libraries and frameworks (experience with both thick clients and web applications desired)
- .NET and Windows development experience using Visual Studio
- User experience and UI design
- Data visualization
- Experience building commercial products is a plus (please show us your portfolio of prior projects)
- Define the various personas which represent different end user profiles
- Design an optimal user experience for each persona
- Develop, iterate and evolve a UI architecture for the product
- Document the requirements & design to the level of quality required for a commercial product
.NET application/database developer (C#, SQL) (junior developer)
Full-time position All-around software developer who is comfortable with data-oriented programming tasks.
Requirements—a qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- 3 years professional software development experience using object-oriented analysis, design, and programming (C#, Java, or C++)
- 1 year experience using and developing software for relational databases (SQL Server and Oracle preferred)
- 1 year experience building applications that implement complex algorithms and data structures
- Experience with database ETL (extract/transform/load) projects
- Experience with ORM (object-relational mapper) tools, such as Hibernate
- .NET and Windows development experience using Visual Studio
- Migrate our existing product from SQL Server to Oracle 11g database
- Become our in-house Oracle "guru"
- Design and implement software solutions to specific tasks as assigned by team leaders
- Document and test software
